Norwalk’s Juice of the Month for December is Pineapple Juice. Over the next 4 weeks we’ll instruct you on how to choose and clean fresh, ripe pineapples We’ll also discuss juicing, storing, and some helpful tips.

When shopping for pineapples to juice, note some are sold with leaves while others are not. Look for heavier pineapples with a firm outer rind that is just starting to turn brown. Note that heavier pineapples are not necessarily bigger pineapples. If sold with the leaves on, ripe pineapples’ leaves can be plucked with little resistance. These are ready to be juiced. Avoid pineapples with soft spots, cracks, mold, or withering leaves.

Please remember that your juice will only be as nutritional as the produce you use to make it.
