Norwalk’s Juice of the Month for January is Mixed Green Juice with carrots, celery, parsley, and spinach. Here are some helpful tips for preparation of your carrots and mixed greens.

Top, tail, and peel carrots before thoroughly washing to remove all bacteria and dirt prior to juicing. By doing so, you ensure only the freshest and purest part of the carrot is juiced, allowing the juice to stay fresher longer in your refrigerator.

It is important that greens are washed thoroughly to remove all dirt and other contaminants. To clean spinach, wash it thoroughly two to three times with water, particularly if it is from a garden. Celery often has dirt inside the ribs, so check the insides and clean your celery thoroughly. Leafy greens can be washed in a bowl with one quarter cup of vinegar and one quart of water to remove all dirt and particulates. Be sure all greens are refrigerated and dry before juicing. Greens and celery don’t need further chopping to fit into the feed tube of your Norwalk Juicer.
